Written by Ed Mongiovi | Jan 10, 2025 10:17:09 PM

2024 was a busy year with various changes in the background screening industry, some especially impactful for those who order background screening reports. While there were some developments in drug screening, many significant changes came in the area of ban the box, fair chance laws, and clean slate laws. Pay transparency remains a key topic, driving new employers, especially those with multistate footprints, to consider posting salary and wage information on a more proactive basis. As additional states consider and enact privacy laws, companies must also consider how to comply with various iterations of laws that likely do not have identical requirements.

Join AccuSourceHR as we review the most critical updates from 2024. We will focus on drug screening developments, considering in particular updates concerning marijuana and drug testing. We will also provide an an overview of new laws involving salary transparency as well as recent ban-the-box and fair chance laws, including the increasing number of clean slate and automatic expungement laws. We will provide a quick touch point on privacy laws that may impact your organization. We will close out our presentation by reviewing issues that may impact the industry and end users in 2025 and will highlight trends in background screening to help you maintain compliant screening programs.
